APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS :
AUDITION FORMAT:
The director would like to put a call out for self-tapes in which the child describes the world from a
rooftop. She is looking for a high level of detail and connection to the person listening to them. The
director also welcomes any type of initiative that shows the child’s understanding of the sensitivities
outlined in the brief.
In addition, the director would like to see a performance/reading of the following excerpt from “The
Curious Incident of The Dog In The Night Time” by Mark Haddon:
“When you look at the sky at night you know you are looking at stars, which are hundreds of
thousands of light years away from you. And some of the stars don’t exist any more because their
light has taken so long to get to us that they are already dead, or they have exploded and collapsed
into red dwarfs. And that makes you seem very small, and if you don’t have difficult things in your
life it is nice to think that they are what is called negligible which means they are so small you don’t
have to take them into account when you are calculating something. It’s because of all the light
pollution in London. All the light from the streetlights and car headlights and floodlights and lights in
the buildings reflect off tiny particles in the atmosphere and they get in the way of light from the stars.”
• Please record using a phone or similar device - a head-and-shoulder shot with good light on the subjects face, ideally filmed against a neutral background.
• Please state name, age and height at the beginning of the tape for identification purposes.
SENDING FILES:
Once recorded, please send files via http://WeTransfer.com to: oisinshortfilm@gmail.com
PLEASE INCLUDE:
1. Child's Name
2. Age / Date of Birth
3. Height
4. Contact Details for Parent / Guardian or your Agent (if you have one)
If you have any previous acting experience, please mention it, but this is not a requirement.
